Group 3 - Codependency

Freedom from unhealthy, entangled relationships.

This group is a biblical-based small group that helps participants understand and break free from the pain and confusion of unhealthy, entangled relationships. It deals with the reasons a condependent compulsively rescues and feels responsible for the feelings and behaviors of others. Participants will learn how unmet emotional needs in childhood create an emotional vacuum, which as adults, they attempt to fill by engaging in behaviors, activities, and relationships that can never satisfy. Parents will learn how pain and family issues recycle down through generations, and how to stop their damaging effects. Participants will also learn specific ways that past abuses, traumas, and losses affect their present functioning, and how facing the pain, emotionally grieving, and releasing it to God thwarts its damaging effect on their future. This recovery group uses the Rapha's 12-Step Program for Conquering Codependency by Pat Springle and Robert McGee. It is offered in January of each year. The group on shame is highly recommended as a prerequisite.
